A so-called Robe a la Francaise, also known as a 'sack back gown'. Each piece is hand-stitched with linen thread or silk thread. This robe a la francaise consists of a green-toned, silver overdress with pretty decoration (the top is lined with cotton, boned and with laces at the back. The eyelets are of course hand-made from silk thread!), a deep black duchesse satin petticoat, an embroidered stomacher by hand with silk thread and glass beads, as well as a pair of handmade 'engageantes', i.e. cuffs made of voile (cotton mix) with hand-stitched silk thread embroidery. These are fastened inside the dress with hand-tied silk buttons.
